So, you been going out for a while and reached the stage in your relationship where you realize you can’t live without that special person.

The obvious next step would be to propose to your loved one, and what better time to do it than in February, the month of love, writes ECR’s Waheeda Peters...

1. Give your sweetheart a sensual massage, and save the left hand for last. As you massage that hand, slip the ring on and be ready to pop the question.

2. A helicopter tour is the best way to see your city and the perfect way to propose. Fly over the magnificent Indian Ocean coastline, with your partner by your side. Surprise your partner as you land and have her find a romantic picnic accompanied with a bottle of wine. Propose to your partner with a view you can’t find anywhere else! A favourite setting is the Inanda Dam.

3. Imagine paragliding with the love of your life and enjoying the views of picturesque mountains in your province with the sound of the wind in your ears. Below your dangling feet the whole world stretches out vast, peaceful, and waiting to be discovered. When you land, you tell your partner you can’t wait to continue on the adventure forever, and you propose.

4. A perfect proposal is walking hand in hand down the beach and stumbling onto a life-size sand sculpture. Walk hand in hand down Ushaka beach and let your partner be blown away to see a sand sculpture featuring icons with significant meaning such as where you met, dates, or names. Have a picnic blanket, pillows, rose petals, chilled cider and chocolate-covered strawberries, all next to your sculpture. And get down on your bended knee and ask for her hand in marriage.

5. If your darling wakes up to the alarm clock set to a particular radio station, or listens to the same one at work every day, arrange to propose on air.. Call the station at least a few days in advance to arrange it, or see if you'll need to buy an ad.
