This weekend is definitely worth a massive ‘Woza Weekend” screech. Snoop Lion, Fashion by the Sea with David Tlale, Kath Kidger and Gavin Rajah, plus there’s still more!
MTN Fashion by the Sea 2013
After the success of the 2011 & 2012 edition of Fashion by the Sea, we get to enjoy yet another fashion spectacular at Moya Pier on Friday 17th May 6:00pm-10:00pm. Remember they use the pier as a runway? This year it just feels way more exciting as it's hosted in the midst of the MTV All Stars concert. There are three separate shows, each at R150 per ticket, with a cocktail afterparty at Moyo. You’ll also need a ticket to get in there (R100). Get the line up for the three shows and all updates on their Facebook event page.
MTV African All Stars
The most amazing thing about the MTV African All Stars Concert (Saturday 18th May) is that tickets are only R40. Yes, you heard me, just R40 to see the rap legend. You won’t need to pop a cap in anybody to get your paws on one. All you have to do is book here . The whole world is talking about the reincarnated Snoop Lion and he’s coming here. Not Jozi, not Cape Town, here. That’s how we roll on the East Coast.
Steve Fataar @ Zacks
If all of that seems like too much chaos and drama for you perhaps you’ll enjoy a legend of a different kind. Only true Durbanites know exactly who Steve Fataar is, so there’s no need for an introduction. Why not head to Zacks in Lilian Ngoyi Rd because Fataar is still jamming. Order a cocktail and be thankful you’re being served and not contemplating creative ways to get a very busy Moyo’s barman attention. Call to book your table 031 312 0755

Quiksilver King of Groms
For all the non-surfers in the room, “grom” is surfer talk translated into English as “young surfer”. For more lessons in competitive surfing be sure to make your way down to this prestigious event that showcases some of South Africa’s best young surfing talent. The contest will run from Saturday 18th May to Sunday 19th May at New Pier. Besides being the coolest parent for taking your kids down to watch, you can enjoy the magic of another beautiful day on our beachfront. Oh, and be sure to tip the sand sculptors, they’re having a hard time with the police. Rumour has it that they shall soon be removed if they don’t pay some sort of exhibition licence.
Comedy Night @ The Corner Café
As if The Corner Café couldn’t get any cooler, they are hosting a comedy night next Wednesday night, 22 May. How fun? I couldn’t think of a better way to spend an evening. You seriously have to book a table though as there is limited space. You don’t want to be that guy that rounds up his mates for an evening of fun who is turns out to be the guy that didn’t book. Or you could enter to win two tickets! Mail [email protected] with your deets to stand or chance, or call 031 2010219 to secure your seat.
