Italian Opera Evening @ the Italian Club, Durban North
Three of the country's most celebrated voices join forces with renowned pianist Andrew Warburton for a once-off evening of beautiful music. See the gifted Violina Anguelov and Bongiwe Madlala along with rising star Loveline Madumo in a feast of Italian Opera at the Italian Club, 82 Fairway in Durban North. The show starts at 7pm. Beatenberg Album Launch @ Skully Hall – UKZN Howard College Campus
These fresh new faces in the South African music biz are creating a huge stir with their local sound and an urban modern twist. You’ll know them from the track they did with DJ Pluto ‘Remember You’ which has been the most played song on South African radio for 14 weeks! The best part is, you’ll get to see them live this Friday night at the Skully hall at UKZN Howard College Campus. Pre sold tickets are just R60 and R80 at the door. Strange Rumblings in Shangri La @ Fat Baz
This one's for the surfers. Catch the Durban premiere of surf film Strange Rumblings in Shangri La at Fat Baz in Durban North at 7.30pm. The film, by renowned director Joe G and the team at Globe, was two years in the making and features top surfers and locations including Iceland, Mozambique, Indonesia and Brazil. It's free entry and is suitable for all ages. Best get there early or book a table ahead via 031 5723152.
SATURDAY 13 SEPTEMBER
Shall We Dance @ The Playhouse Theatre
This annual dance showcase started in 1991 and is probably the longest standing annual production in Durban to date. It is presented by the Playhouse Company in association with the South African Dance Teachers’ Association. Produced and directed by the legendary Neville Letard and Caryl Cusens. Tickets range from R70 to R140 and you can book here.
SUNDAY 14 SEPTEMBER
Goldfish @ Makaranga Lodge
The setting is exquisite and Jeremy Loops rocked there a few weeks back. No doubt Goldfish are going to do the same at Makaranga Lodge this Sunday. If you’re not from the Kloof area, you're in for a treat - Makaranga is a real fun adventure. Tickets are R150 at Computicket. Kids under eight get in for free.
