The Durban Fashion Fair (DFF) 2013 opened at the Durban Exhibition Centre yesterday, with showings by four emerging designers among the big names.

Sanele Cele and his label, Tempracha, Mthokozisi Ntaka who has branded his collection Randevour, Jacqui Emmanuel who is designing under her own name and Modesta by Pinky Dlamini showed fresh collections which were well received by the audience. They’ve recently returned from an internship in Milan.

Designer Craig Jacobs wowed audiences with his relaxed Spring collection, which was simple and ready to wear. The former Durbanite hinted he is keen to open shop in the city soon, so fans of Jacobs - it won't be long!

Karen Monk-Klijnstra's wonderful 'Little House on the Prairie' country range for adults and children was adorable. The Kids’ range was hip and unique. The elegant 'Zarth' range by Zama Mathe got a standing ovation. Her luxurious range was stylish, original and ready to wear across scenarios.

Local celebrities such as Kajal Bhagwandeen from Isidingo took time out to attend Gavin Rajah's show.

"I loved his show, it was very space age, I loved his usage of black and gold with net borders for his garments, just breath-taking," gushed Bhagwandeen.
Rajah, who clearly was not impressed by the absence of designer Gideon, wore a black T- shirt worded in gold with: "Why isn't Gideon showing."
