Sadia Sukhraj case: Police intensify efforts to find third suspect
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
KZN police are working to ensure that all those responsible for Sadia Sukhraj's death are brought to justice.
Community Safety MEC Mxolisi Kaunda met with senior management at the Chatsworth police station to discuss their strategies tackle trio crimes, business and residential robberies as well as hijackings - in the area.
"They are working flat out - looking for the third suspect. They will not rest up until the suspect is brought to book. We are also calling for harsher sentences. If people are not receiving harsher sentences, this perpetuates the situation further," he said.
Led by the MEC, government officials met with the family yesterday.
Sadia Sukhraj's father - who is a pastor - spoke to reporters afterwards saying his faith always sustains him.
Nine-year-old Sadia was killed in a botched hijacking in nearby Shallcross on Monday. One suspect was killed and another arrested. The suspect in custody's due back in court today.
The third man is still on the run.
