Zuma calls for economic inclusion ahead of SONA 2017

The president says inequality in the country needs to be tackled head on.

President Jacob Zuma was speaking after a lunch with business and labour - ahead of his State of the Nation Address in Cape Town on Thursday.

"It needs urgent action. After two decades since democracy, the Black majority still remains largely outside of the mainstream economy. Social justice can not be achieved if we allow the status quo to persist," he said.


He says economic inclusion will lead to a bigger economy.


"As we begin a new phase of economic recovery, we have to make sure we take everyone along," he said.
