"You've lost weight" could be damaging, says Demi Lovato

The transitioning and open-minded Demi Lovato speaks about body shape remarks that could possible be harmful to people who suffer from eating disorders.
Many of us associate weight loss with a 'win' in life and many times it's because we don't know any better. But what happens when our words of supposed kindness are received in a way that it was not meant?
When we know better, we can do better.
Well, that's what we think anyway. Demi Lovato has shed some light on the topic and we couldn't have asked for a better way of approaching it without being controversial.

Demi shared an Instagram story over the weekend where she spoke about the harmful effects of saying to someone, "you've lost weight"...
"[I don't know] who needs to hear this, but complimenting someone on their weight loss can be as harmful as complimenting someone on their weight gain in regards to talking to someone in recovery from an eating disorder, says Demi, according to News24.

She has previously spoken about suffering from an eating disorder and sharing some light about how others' words can be taken is honest and reveals a lot about people going through things that are sometimes beyond their control.
She advocates for Alliance for EDA and admitted that she is one of 28.8-million EDA sufferers in America. Her posts are both encouraging and truthful and we hope that EDA sufferers around the world benefit from her advice in all its depth and wisdom.

With all the talk on mental health and emotional well-being, it is important that we all support such amazing causes and bring light to these kind of taboo topics, we need to evolve into a nation that addresses such vulnerability.
