You can pay just R19 a night at this Japan hotel but there's a catch
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Yes, there is a catch and we're not sure how you will feel about it.
Finding accommodation at any hotel without paying an arm and leg or losing your arm or leg is tricky.
But it seems like with everything in life, you can have your cake and eat it, but it comes with terms and conditions.
This is the case for a hotel in Japan that offers guests a remarkable rate of $1 (18.33) a night. But here's the catch, you have to live stream your stay.
"When 27-year-old Tetsuya Inoue began running Asahi Ryokan – a hotel in the Japanese city of Fukuoka that is owned by his grandmother – he wondered how he could improve business in the new economy.
Inoue had an idea: what if he could use the internet to bring in a new audience and a new revenue stream?" (CNN)
Inoue believes that many young people today are not as concerned with privacy and his idea has proven successful with many people frequenting the One Dollar Hotel.

In case you were wondering, there are some privacy measures in place. The live streams are muted so guests' conversations are kept private and there are no cameras in the bathroom.
Inoue is said to have used this marketing technique to grow his YouTube channel.
Once he reached his desired viewership, he was planning to monetize his YouTube channel.
