Would you pay R900 for kid's sized Checkers Trolley?
Updated | By East Coast Radio
If your kid is a fan of the Checker's trolleys, then you might be in trouble...
We know that when kids like something they can be really vocal about it.
Representing the non-parent community, when bearing witness to a kid being vocal about what they want in a public space can be truly humourous or completely awkward to watch.
This is why some parents opt to leave their kids at home when they are out shopping.
And now, with Checkers making the savvy and smart decision to expand their line of personalised kid-friendly items, parents, we think you're in trouble.

We first saw them bring in the Checkers and Shoprite Little Shop collectables. With the incentive first created, parents were happy to receive something when they made purchases over a certain amount.
But then the little shop stand became available and now the trolleys, which were first introduced in-stores.
The mini trolleys are definitely a hit with the kids. Making them feel responsible and in control whilst they shop.
Checkers has even done a personalised plastic bike with their branding and a little box in the back to mimic their Checkers Sixty60 delivery drivers.
From a brand perspective, they are really monopolising their ability to build on concepts that have done well. Catering for their younger market only makes them more popular with the kids.
But from a parent's perspective, paying R900 for a Checkers mini trolley, in your choice of bright colours, can be overwhelming.

And this woman expressed her love for the trolley but said that R900 was a bit steep. Her husband was the best when he said, "R900 for an empty trolley!"
