After a night out drinking, this man lost a very, very important USB...

For most people, a night out drinking with friends doesn't get them fired...

But we surely stand to be corrected, considering that when alcohol enters some equations, things have a way of going badly.

If you know, you know.

This is also a great opportunity for us to mention, since we live in the age of digitisation, it's always a good move to back up your important documents.

After going out for a night of drinking, an unnamed man from Japan found himself passed out on a street.

When he came around, he realised that his bag was missing. Inside that bag was a very, very valuable USB stick.

It's like a scene out of a movie... with all the drama, but the consequences were real.

Because we all know that in this day and age, information is the new currency.

The man works for a "company tasked with providing benefits to tax-exempt households. He had transferred the personal information of the entire city's residents onto the drive on Tuesday evening before meeting colleagues for a night on the town." (BBC)

Not a great night to get hammered...

As we were saying, information is the new currency today. So what was on that memory stick?

"City officials said the memory stick included the names, birth dates, and addresses of all the city's residents. It also included more sensitive information, including tax details, bank account numbers and information on families receiving social security." (BBC)

Luckily, the memory stick was encrypted and locked with passwords, but nowadays hacking has also advanced, so good luck to them.

No sign of the information being leaked or discovered yet, so hopefully it was someone who doesn't know any better.

Otherwise we could be looking at a real-life information hack...
