What if your employer didn't like your hair colour?
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Well, they would have to make it known before hiring you, right?
There is often a code of conduct which includes a dress code policy at many workplaces.
These tie in with the overall nature of the business and should be followed by all employees.
Sometimes there are different dress code policies that apply for the front-of-house employees in comparison to the back-of-house employees.
This is because the front-of-house employees are more in contact with customers and therefore need to live and breathe a certain message.
A woman who has gone somewhat viral on TikTok has been stirring the pot when it comes to her appearance.
All this after she was told that that she needed to change her hair colour, which is brown and pink.
The woman, Emily Benschoter, was hired for a front-of-house position in hospitality and the interview was done telephonically, hence the employer didn't know about her hair colour until her first day at work.
This did not sit well with Benschoter as she explained that she is a self-expressive person and her hair colour forms a big part of that.
She obviously didn't want to lose her job and so, she came up with a solution. A very spicy one if you ask us, but a solution nonetheless (at least in the eyes of the corporate dress code).
Check out one of her videos below, that shows the type of wigs she has decided to use to work. Courtesy of TikTok.

This video racked up over 2.3-million views and shows her wearing a curly red-head wig.
If you ask us, we think she's better off showing off her coloured hair, because these wigs don't really complement a welcoming ambience.
