The rise of the Brood X Cicada happens every 17 years, but their swarming is kind of apocolyptic.

The amazing yet somewhat creepy emergence of the Cicada is swarming up in the USA. Billions of Cicadas, which can be said to form part of the locust family, have spent 17 years below ground and have now emerged to mate.
Entomologists are excited and intrigued by the way these insects work. They have come up after hibernating for 17 years and are now calling out for potential mates so that they procreate.

Can you imagine being underground for almost two decades and being privy to that kind of history? That's how old many of your teenagers are, so you can relate to the time and effort these little creatures have taken to grow.
They hang around for around three weeks, reproduce, and then descend into the ground again, hibernating for another 17 years. Epidemiologists call it evolutionary...
The creepy crawlies are not harmful, they are just a bit noisy when it comes to their mating call. The sound levels go up to 1,000 decibels, which as noisy as a lawnmower.
Then we hear that they are not just enjoyed by animals, but also eaten as a delicacy by humans! Pause for a reaction...
