Ever felt like a retailer put the price up because you made it popular?
It's difficult to live in a supply-demand kind of world. Of course, it's how the world of economics works, but when you have to bear the price hike, it's not at all fun...
This woman reminded us of how unfortunate it feels when your favourite items go through a price hike, and not because of any economical circumstance... but rather because you created a demand for that product and it resonated with the masses!

In this case, it was TikToker Cate who shared her favourite rug on her TikTok channel. She shares that this is by far her favourite rug, and that this is actually her fifth one for the year.
She completely promotes the rug, saying that it goes with everything and it comes in a variety of sizes. It is clear she is a fan of these rugs and inadvertently used her channel to share one of her favourite items, not thinking what effect it would have...

She noticed the change of price on their website, and says she bought one the day before and it was $100.00...

It has not been confirmed as to whether the price was raised because of her video. Nevertheless, it just goes to show what influence social media has over the price and popularity of merchandise.
If they did put the price up because of supply and demand, then perhaps they should've waited a bit, before materialising on the impact of the video. Maybe it was bad timing...
