Tony Hawk donates his blood to be added to some unique skateboards that are retailing for R7,500 each...
We are all for getting merch that represents something important, whether that is a handbag, a pair of sneakers, a special perfume, or a skateboard by the skateboard legend, Tony Hawk.
Sure, why not, for skateboard enthusiasts this would be iconic, something you would put up on the mantel, or have framed and placed as wall art. But would it freak you out if you knew that this iconic item had Tony Hawk's blood on it?
In a publicity stunt that he has carried out with the brand Liquid Death, which is funnily enough a water brand, not sure about the naming, but oh, well, he has donated two vials of his blood to be added to the artwork of 100 skateboards. The skateboards retail for R7,500 each and, wait for it, they were sold out almost immediately after being released.
The ad campaign which centred around the skateboards for the Liquid Death mountain water went along the lines of "Murder your thirst just like Tony Hawk!" (Business Insider)
Some of the proceeds behind the skateboard sales will go towards killing plastic pollution and to build skateboard communities. It is amazing to see the innovation behind the artwork, pretty unique (pretty weird, too).

Yes, there is actually @tonyhawk’s real blood in these skateboards. And yes, we sterilized it first. Own your very own piece of the Birdman today. But act fast! There are only 100 of them. https://t.co/UlxFy0HLB1 pic.twitter.com/TFDtvMPt7G

Not a very conventional approach to an ad campaign, but definitely one that is both unique and memorable. We love the way the brand responded to the ad campaign and their play on the concept.

Although it could arguably make the world a better place, never ever use these boards to make clones of Tony Hawk.
