LISTEN: Six-year-old Reece from PMB uses R50 to secure a new car for his "Nani"
Updated | By East Coast Radio
With all that we are going through as a nation, we welcome sweet and sentimental moments such as these. Thank you to Kelly and Reece Maharaj for sharing this with us.
As a little boy or girl, we could literally do anything. There is no end to what kids believe they can do. The world is literally an oyster for the taking...
We definitely could learn from the younger generation, their sense of possibility is inspiring and leaves us feeling hopeful. Hopeful for a better future and definitely for an overflowing sense of kindness that we could all do with.
When it comes to Reece Maharaj, we first saw him in a video online that showed him visiting a car dealership for his birthday. He asked his parents if he could buy his grandmother a new car for his birthday, as she has been battling with endless problems with her current vehicle.
He recently celebrated his birthday and received R50 from one of his family members. In his mind, this is a lot of money. To many, it may not be a lot, but he is a kid and his imagination is filled with limitlessness (something we could all learn from).
Reece is a very sensitive child, he doesn't like seeing anybody upset or you know feeling down. He tries to do stuff to make them feel better...- Kelly Maharaj
His mother, Kelly Maharaj, chatted to us about what kind of kid Reece is. Besides sharing that he is a big hearted and kind child, she also told us that she lost her dad about two years ago. Reece considered his grandfather his best friend and upon his passing, he made it his mission to be there for his grandmother, no matter what.
His grandmother's vehicle has been giving her endless issues, with her experiencing breakdowns often. So when he received a birthday present from one of his uncles, R50, he decided that he wanted to buy a car for his grandmother.
Kelly explained to him that a car costs a lot more, but he was adamant that he would buy his "Nani" a car. So, Kelly and her husband decided to entertain him and support his mission. Which we think is completely amazing, as parents should encourage this line of thinking, it's so important to be encouraging to your kids.
Kelly and her mother took Reece to the car dealership for his birthday and made arrangements with one of her friends at the dealership to make sure that they played along. The truth is that Kelly and her family will be getting a new car, so Reece's act of kindness won't be in vain.
