WATCH: Man chases down thief and recovers friend's phone

A video released on social media shows an unsuspecting man having his phone stolen - and the brave soul who stood up to crime.
As South Africans, it's very rare that we can say we haven't been a victim of crime. The list of crimes can be endless and the aftermath can lead to stress, anxiety, and fear, to name a few emotional states.
But when we hear about stories where someone takes a stand and faces those criminals - it truly leaves us feeling invigorated and in awe of their courage and bravery.
In the video from News24, we can see an attempted robbery and a brave man who reacts impulsively and manages to save the day, getting his colleague's phone back.
We rarely hear about stories where people stand up to criminals, not because they lack the bravery or courage, but because of the dangers involved.

We commend him for his act of bravery and we hope that as a country we can find a way to eliminate things like poverty and drug rehabilitation (focus on mental health), that can be considered as leading causes of crime.
