An Indian man from Tamil Nadu eats a snake and is videoed doing it. He says the snake is consumed to "keep COVID at bay"...
When HIV came about years ago, people came with traditional and herbal medicines that would cure you of the virus. As much as these are truly believed in many communities, it is something that sets people off when it comes to the world of modern medicine.
In this case, this man from Tamil Nadu in India took the meaning of fighting the virus to a whole new level of extreme. Dare to watch, it has to do with a snake, so if you're squeamish, then, well still watch it, it will be a good story to tell your friends...
A 50-year-old man, who is an agricultural worker and resides in Tamil Nadu, killed a snake and proceeded to eat the snake. He allegedly says in the video that it is to "keep Covid at bay" and that is the reason behind him eating the snake.
The video is said to have gone viral and the authorities have arrested him after finding out about the video. India Today reported, "Environmentalists sent the video to officers from the state's forest department. Officials later arrested Vadivelu and fined him around 7,500 rupees, or $104."
The man then claimed that he was forced to eat the snake by other men and was under the influence of alcohol. Of course, there is no research done proving that eating snakes helps with the virus, so please don't go snake hunting.
"He was lucky that he did not bite into the venom glands of the snake which was a common krait," Madurai S Ananda, the district forest officer, told The Times of India. "The common krait contains neurotoxins that can paralyze a human being."
There have been other fake COVID-19 cures that have circulated and have been promoted in India. Doctors have advised communities to avoid following such news and information that is not authenticated by medical science doctors.
