WATCH: A flying car called "AirCar" completes its first inter-city flight
Updated | By East Coast Radio
We feel like we are on the set of 'Star Wars' or something like that, as the future is now with flying cars... yes, it's real!
Just over a year ago, if someone told you that the whole world would be in lockdown, would you have believed them or laughed in their faces? We honestly would have most likely laughed. But that's after living through, well, actually living in a pandemic-riddled world, so we are actually not sure.
So when someone told us that there was a flying car that made a 35-minute flight somewhere in Europe, we were more than just a little suspicious as to whether this was fake news or something to get clicks...
The truth of the matter is that it's completely real and this moment will go down in history as just another day for many. But in actuality, it is both completely surreal and out of this world.
The man behind it all, Professor Stefan Klein, said it could fly about 1,000km (600 miles), at a height of 8,200ft (2,500m). According to a report on BBC news, he made the official flight from one airport to another for the first time late last month.
The car, aptly called "AirCar", looks like an advanced version of KITT from 'Knight Rider', and KITT also flew, so you can imagine our excitement in knowing that cars can really fly and it's not just science fiction anymore...

"Klein Vision’s patent protected AirCar completed its 142nd successful landing in Bratislava at 6:05AM. After landing, at a click of a button the aircraft transformed into a sports car in under three minutes and was driven by its inventor, Professor Stefan Klein and co-founder, Anton Zajac to downtown Bratislava, cutting the typical travel time by a factor of two." (Klein Vision Press Release)
It can't be an easy task creating something that looks and feels like a car but actually flies. One of the senior techs involved in the project confirmed this when he said:
The automated transition from road vehicle into an air vehicle and vice versa, deploying/retracting wings and tail is not only the result of pioneering enthusiasm, innovative spirit and courage; it is an outcome of excellent engineering and professional knowledge.- Dr. Branko Sarh, Boeing Co. Senior Technical Fellow
If things like flying cars can exist, then why can't former President Jacob Zuma spend 15 months in prison... #ISaidWhatISaid
