WATCH: Coffee and a walk will soon be possible at the uMhlanga boardwalk
Updated | By East Coast Radio
We look at the progress of the uMhlanga Lagoon Nature Reserve’s boardwalk and the introduction of the coffee kiosk...
We love those parts of our suburbs that show the true beauty of the place. Whether that be the rivers, the lakes, the wildlife, or the fauna and flora, we love being able to escape from the city life and form part of our country's earth.
The time away from all the hustle and bustle can be so rejuvenating and extremely soothing to one's mental state of mind. So when we saw this update on the addition of a coffee kiosk and the consequent upgrade of the uMhlanga boardwalk, we had to give it some love.
"The uMhlanga Lagoon forest boardwalk has just over 100m built with a deck and seating area recently added! This project will greatly enhance the uMhlanga Rocks experience by protecting the forest’s environmental biodiversity and allowing more people to enjoy a beautiful ‘walk in the trees’." (Famous Publishing website)
In May, there was a call for donations from residents and the like to contribute to the upliftment of this boardwalk. It seems that everything is on track and soon there will be a coffee kiosk as well for walkers who enjoy a caffeine kick.
"The boardwalk which is now 161 metres in length, will be 1km long once completed. Made from recycled plastic, the raised, wheelchair-friendly boardwalk’s design will provide viewing decks overlooking the beach and lagoon and formalised access points from the boardwalk onto the beach." (North Glen News)
If you haven't already taken a stroll through the boardwalk, then you definitely need to add it to your list of things to do in Durban. The project is close to completion, so soon you will be able to enjoy a renewed experience.
