WATCH: Alleged criminal escapes from police van in the middle of traffic
Updated | By East Coast Radio
This is just what we needed to see... Not!
It can be disconcerting (to say the least) driving near a police vehicle. Mostly because you never know who is locked up at the back.
Could be someone dangerous, or someone who committed something less than serious on the Richter scale of crimes.
Nevertheless, whoever it is, it's not like there's a warning sign letting you know to beware.
And with the shaky bond that many South Africans have with our police force, it can be said that people are always watching, waiting for them to err in some way or the other.
In this case, it was a matter of getting out of jail unnoticed, minus the 'get out of jail free' card and actually making it to jail.
A video that has been circulating on Twitter has garnered some interest, questioning the authority of the South African Police Services.
In the video, a person in a vehicle travelling a few cars behind a police van shows the rear end of the police van.
The vehicles are all seen stationary at what looks like a traffic light or intersection.
And a man is seen wiggling out of the back of the police van and essentially escaping custody.
Tweeps used this as their opening to share their views, check out some of their comments below.

But Mmusi why not blame the people around that are seeing the act happening but doing nothing? Its not like the police are the ones letting the person go

You can’t just put a blanket statement like that, there are people who serve and do their best, you have been exposed to the real issues in government but like all politicians you keep playing the blame game, We would like to support u as black person. Give us a reason Mchana

We do have a Police Service Mr Maimane, is just that challenges relating to the integrity of some within the SAPS tarnish their image. I know of very hard-working SAPS members.
