Vic Naidoo's top mocktails for summer 2020!

Once again, our fellow South Africans have to bid farewell to their plans to a bottle of bubbles on New Year's Eve or enjoy a beachside cocktail.
A lot has changed after President Cyril Ramaphosa's national address last night.

But just because we can't buy any more alcohol doesn't mean we have to resort to our pineapple-beer-making ways.
It's finally summer and there's no better time to enjoy a super refreshing, ice-cold drink while relaxing in the KZN sun, so here are just a few of Vic's favourite boozy beverages, that are Uncle Cyril approved.

The Virgin Long-Island Ice Tea
Ingredients:
- 12 teaspoons English Breakfast loose leaf tea
- 60ml apple cider vinegar
- 600ml ginger beer
- Ice
- 1 lemon, juiced, plus 1 lemon, sliced
- Fresh mint
Equipment:
- Tea infuser
- Jug
Method:
- Put the tea into the infuser, and half fill the jug with boiling water. Infuse for 4 minutes then remove the infuser and leave to cool for 1 hour.
- Add apple cider vinegar, ginger beer, and lemon juice to cooled tea and top with ice. Stir.
- Decorate with lemon slices and fresh mint.
The Mocktail Mojito
Ingredients:
- 10 fresh large mint leaves
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
- 2 tablespoons simple syrup
- 1/2 cup club soda, ginger ale, or sparkling lime water
- Plenty of ice
- Optional garnish: lime wedge or a slice of lime
Method:
- Place the mint leaves in a glass; pour the fresh lime juice and simple syrup right on top of the mint.
- Use a muddler (or wooden spoon) to press down on the mint and release its flavor.
- Using your dominant hand, press down and twist lightly 3-4 times.
- Add in the club soda, ginger ale, or sparkling lime water.
- Fill up the glass with ice and then stir. Garnish, if desired, with a slice or wedge of lime and then serve immediately!
Ingredients:
- 88ml tomato juice
- 14ml lemon juice
- 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- Pepper (freshly ground)
- 2 dashes Tabasco
- Garnish: 1 stalk celery
Method:
- Pour the tomato juice and lemon juice into a tall glass over ice cubes.
- Mix well.
- Add the Worcester sauce, salt, pepper, and hot sauce to taste.
- Garnish with the celery stalk and enjoy!
