If you care about your toilet, you will read this...
Taking care of your home is a given, but not when you are using products that are actually harmful to your beloved belongings. Of course, there is this belief that using bleach on your toilets helps with getting rid of the mountains of germs.
But apparently it's not at all true... An interesting conversation sparked on a Facebook group called, 'Mums who clean'. A mother shared with the rest of the group that she was told not to use bleach...
Vic Naidoo was baffled when he heard about this story online. Especially because when it comes to cleaning, there is an assumption that bleach is used to clean.
However, a mother on Facebook shared the following:
The lady told me I should never use bleach as it destroys the porcelain. She said eventually the toilet will not flush properly as the bend will be so scarred that it traps the paper. Has anyone else heard this before?- Mother on Facebook
This sparked a keen conversation by other mums who clean, who admitted that their plumbers and some of their husbands have shared the same advice with them.
One woman said: "Bleach destroyed our toilet so badly it was uncleanable and had to be replaced. I’ll never use it again. It DOES damage the porcelain and the scoring is impossible to clean after that.’" (7 News)

But this did not come without an opposing view.
"My mum has been cleaning the toilet with bleach for over 24 years and no problems yet," said one user. Added another: "50 years....been using beach....! Never had an issue..."
"Using bleach in the loo for over 30 yrs...no drama at all.’" (7 News)
So we are wondering whether we should bleach or not to bleach...
