Vic Naidoo speaks with Dr Imtiaz Sooliman from Gift of the Givers
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Many have deemed this man a hero, but he still shows us that being kind and giving help is just a humble act for him.
The Gift of the Givers is the largest disaster response Non-Governmental Organisation in Africa and helps people from all over, whether it was coming to help with the COVID-19 disaster or bringing food parcels to communities in need. They have shown true solidarity for many years.
When it comes to healing a nation that has been through a lot, the words and humble nature of Dr Imtiaz Sooliman teach us that anything is possible. The team at Gift of The Givers are both fast acting and calm in times of panic, two things that we need to see in our country.
Over the weekend, the humanitarian group managed to deliver food parcels to communities in Chatsworth, Pietermaritzburg, and Touws Rivier. Their work is ongoing and with the help of many corporations and civilians, they are able to be productive in their efforts.
Dr Sooliman urged people to stay calm and not to panic. They assured people of KZN that there was no shortage of food, but rather the difficulty was getting the food to areas where the stores were burnt down completely.
"In addition to supporting residents in the affected communities, Gift of the Givers have also provided much needed support to medical personnel who have been hit with food shortages while under intense pressure at hospitals," IOL reports.
Contributions can be made into Gift of the Givers, Standard Bank, Pietermaritzburg, Account number 052137228, Branch Code 057525, ref KZN Crisis.
