Unmasked: Huge party in Buffalo City causes concern

Just a few days after the liquor ban was lifted by President Cyril Ramaphosa, it seems like a crowd in East London have forgotten about COVID-19.
Partygoers in Buffalo City seemingly party the night away without any concern for COVID-19 and the country's lack of a vaccine.

In a video that emerged over the weekend, patrons of an establishment in Buffalo City broke COVID-19 protocols under the adjusted Level 3 of lockdown.
With one mask in sight and zero social distancing, this party is doomed to become a super-spreader.

A statement released by the Buffalo City Metro in the Eastern Cape read:
“The Buffalo City Metro is calling on businesses to act responsibly in the wake of the resumption of alcohol sales."
“A disturbing video about a recent gathering at an indoor venue in East London has emerged, showing total disregard of Lockdown Alert Level 3 regulations.
“We are calling on all businesses in Buffalo City to respect the law.”

The Liquor Board is set to visit the establishment for the violation of social distancing rules.
The video comes days after the country was moved to an adjusted Level 3 of lockdown. Regulations under gatherings explicitly state that a maximum of 50 people can attend indoor events, while a hundred people are permitted outdoors.
