Top three practical minimalist living habits
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Living a minimalist life is the only way to live...
Minimalist living is considered a lifestyle that empowers people, it allows us to be more conscious of our choices.
Believe it or not, the clutter that we accumulate physically impacts our lives mentally. This is why many people have opted to live a minimalist lifestyle. However, many people find it difficult to purge in their lives.
"By simplifying our lives, we become more efficient with our tasks and free up hours of unnecessary workload — which, in turn, helps us achieve the most out of our day so that we can spend less time stressing and more time living." (Medium)
Therefore it can be said that living a minimalist lifestyle can be beneficial to your mental and physical being.
We have three tips that will help you practically transition into a minimalist style of living.
Start small - do one thing every day to get rid of something
The trick to anything is to start small. Start by getting rid of something each day, this way you don't feel overwhelmed by it all.
Some key questions to ask yourself when purging:
"Do I need this in my life or value it?"
"When last did I use this item?"
Use the two-minute rule
We heard about this rule a while back and we fell in love with it. If a task takes less than two minutes, do it, don't wait for the task to become a mountain before tackling it.
There is a motivational video that says: "The magic lies in the work you are avoiding."
Don't leave what you can do today for tomorrow, think about that for a moment. The moment you realise that life can happen at any time, you will be motivated not to procrastinate.

Unsubscribe from emails
Far too often we think of minimalism in terms of our household items but the truth is that it expands to all areas of our lives, including our digital lives.
"On average, we spend a whopping 28% of our workday tackling emails — about 120 messages a day, and we’re checking our inbox roughly 11 times per hour. That’s 88 times during a regular workday." (Medium)
Asking yourself these questions can help you streamline your mailbox while also transitioning into minimalist living.
- For each email, ask, “Is this useful and necessary?"
- If the answer is ‘no', hit that unsubscribe button.
- Don’t just leave them unopened or delete them; that’s delaying the inevitable and cluttering your virtual space.
The above is from Medium.
