Tips to stay safe and secure during the stormy weather

Better to be prepared and work proactively...
As the winds howl through the window panes and we see the vigourous movements of the large trees here in Umhlanga, we wanted to make sure that you were prepared for the stormy weather.
First and foremost, make sure that if you are going to be driving, hold on tight to your steering wheel. Make sure you have a firm grip, because with winds like this, it can be easy to lose control of your vehicle.
Also, make sure to keep your headlights on, it's getting dark and gloomy, so best to be visible to others, and make sure you can see properly on the roadways. If you can avoid driving, please do. If you are using public transport, then don't forget your umbrella.
If you need to, ask your boss if you can leave a bit early. Not ideal to be stuck in traffic in this weather. But don't say we said so! If you have anything left loose outside your home, or if you have a shaky roof tile or window spay, try and secure it to the best of your ability.
If you have pets that stay outdoors, make sure that they are safe and secure. Just as you feel uneasy when the storm is happening, they feel way worse. Be considerate and cater for them.
Make sure to keep your candles on standby as there are many power outages around KZN. Practice caution if you have kids around. Keep your LED lights on standby, as well as power banks, in case you need to contact emergency services.
You can stay up-to-date on the weather here. Stay safe out there KZN!
