There's a bar in Japan where people pay to get slapped
Updated | By East Coast Radio
This weird practice attracts both Japanese men and women, as well as some curious tourists...
We have come to learn that Japan is a place with many weird but popular practices.
But none quite live up to this popular attraction, if we can call it that at all.
A Japanese bar, the Shachihoko-ya izakaya in Nagoya, offers patrons a bizarre service of being slapped in the face by one of the staff members at a fee.
"The bizarre service is said to have revitalized the establishment’s business, attracting an increasing number of patrons willing to try the painful experience." (Oddity Central)
At first, patrons were slapped by just one member of staff, but as the practice grew in popularity, the establishment hired more female staff to hand out slaps.
The bar even began charging for the service, 100 Yen (R13.05).
Watch the below video that shows the female staff slapping male customers.

The face-slapping service is popular amongst both men and women, as well as curious tourists.
And surprisingly enough, after the patrons are slapped they are not angry but feel more relaxed. The slaps are no joke, if you noticed the one worker in the above video and how she really went in on the customer.
We guess it is for this reason that the bar has stopped their weird service.
“Shachihoko-ya currently does not offer slaps. We appreciate the attention it has received today, but we cannot accommodate visits with the intention of receiving slaps. We did not expect old videos to go viral like this, so please understand before coming.” (Oddity Central)
