Therapist claims that couples who don't celebrate Valentine's Day are unhappy

A dreaded day for some and the most celebrated day for others...
There comes a time in your life where you may or may not choose to stop following society.
When it comes to commercialised holidays, such as Valentine's Day, there are many who are of the belief that this is just for advertising and doesn't really hold much value in a relationship.
Contrary to this belief, many people are consumed by the red and white holiday. They get dressed up, plan extravagant dates, many even pop the question, and others get married.
It seems though that an Australian couple's therapist, who has more than 30 years of experience behind her name, has some interesting advice about Valentine's Day.
Although many choose to not engage in this overly marketed day, it seems the key to a happy relationship involves being invested on Valentine's Day.
She "claims celebrating Valentine's Day could save your relationship down the track. Dr Tozer also believes Valentine's Day is an opportunity for couples to focus on their relationship and celebrate their love." (Daily Mail)
She goes on to say that with life's long list of responsibilities, it can be difficult to designate time for each other.
And, so, what Valentine's Day does is force you to take time off and work on the love...
"I sometimes compare a relationship to a merry-go-round, it's fun but loses its excitement with each lap. It's easy to lose sight of why they got on the ride in the first place,' she said. The priority to dedicate time to indulge in each other's love is diluted to the point where not celebrating that love becomes the norm.'" (Daily Mail)

Now, when she puts it like that, we kind of feel we have to engage.
It is a reason to take time to celebrate love, and why not make it your own, instead of conforming to the societal way of doing things?
