We're wondering if the TV license fee would be more for this one?
We've heard of some crazy inventions before, but this one has got to be high up on the list. From toilets that turn your poo into energy to alarms that detect COVID-19... inventions definitely create excitement.
The most recent one that has everyone talking is a television set created by a Japanese professor. But this no ordinary TV, it has some special capabilities, you can lick it and it tastes like real food...
"Professor Homei Miyashita of Meiji University has created a prototype television named “Taste-the-TV” which allows users to lick their television screens and taste various food flavours." (MSN)
The TV has built-in canisters that house different flavours, there are ten canisters in total. Each one is sprayed on a 'hygienic film', which is over the TV screen and can be licked.

"The professor suggested the unique item could be used to train cooks or sommeliers remotely and estimated it would cost $875 (R13 605) if sold commercially." (MSN)
The goal is to make it possible for people to have the experience of something like eating at a restaurant on the other side of the world, even while staying at home.- Professor Homei Miyashita
Can you imagine, all this came from the pandemic. After the limitations that COVID-19 presented, the professor found a way of allowing people to experience different foods in the comfort of their homes.
"The professor envisages a world of downloadable “taste content,” and believes that in the era of COVID-19, the technology could enhance the way people connect with the outside world. In the past, Professor Miyashita and his students have produced a range of devices related to taste, including “a fork that makes food taste richer”." (MSN)
