Spoil your Valentine on a budget
Updated | By East Coast Radio
People are still recovering from the festive season and now they have to plan for the month of love.

Just as we bid farewell to what is called the toughest month of the year (financially), we enter yet another month of birthdays, special occasions, and Valentine's Day.
A day that is notorious for its ability to bring people together or break them apart.
Valentine's Day can be a tough cookie to swallow, considering many people are still trying to recover from all the money they spent over the festive season and during the back-to-school month.
But instead of feeding into the commercialised hype around the day of red and white, you can take a different route that doesn't break your bank account.
Before you go under budget, make sure to know your partner. If your partner loves being faffed over and you have always spoilt each other for Valentine's Day, then don't just drop the bomb on them.
You can still spend on your boo without breaking the bank.
- Personalise how you do things this year. If you are going out for dinner, maybe get a cute spot and ask the restaurant if they can do something special, like write a special message on the dessert. (Check out the Suncoast Real Deal - for just R320 you can enjoy movies, meals, and more).
- Better yet, instead of going out why not flip the script and cook dinner at home? Maybe make it an outdoor dinner. Get the kids involved with serving the food or providing some entertainment.
- Plan a picnic. Pack a basket of your partner's favourites and take them to a cute picnic spot.
- Get some art supplies and plan a paint and sip party for two at home.
