Singles are searching for love on LinkedIn

Singles are searching for love on LinkedIn

Well, that makes a lot of sense. Intellectual conversation while checking out their work history...

All the single people, we understand your plight when it comes to finding your person.

Sifting through all the rough gems before finding your sparkling jewel is not at all an easy feat. So, naturally, you would want to take any opportunity you get to have a fighting chance.

It is for this reason we are not at all surprised to hear that the professional networking site, LinkedIn, has become rife with singles looking for love.

It isn't a new phenomenon, many have used LinkedIn as a means of sliding into people's DMs.

But after Samuela John, a 24-year-old personal organiser, shared how she was courted on LinkedIn, it has become something of a great talking point for both singles and non-singles.

"Three separate men slid into her DMs in early 2023. While she had received messages on the workplace-focused social-media site before, these were different." (Business Insider)

It does sound like the perfect place to meet someone, especially because this is one place where you can at the very least establish if the person you are interested in has a job.

"I'm always looking for someone who has a stable career, who is preferably well off," she said. "Not to say that I'm looking for sugar daddies but someone who can take care of themselves."

"On LinkedIn, she figured, she could fairly assess whether a romantic prospect's employment history, education, and career aspirations lined up with the kind of partner she envisioned for herself. At the very least, she would know whether the man had a job." (Business Insider)

Even though LinkedIn does not associate itself as a dating site, many have been successful in finding love.

It sounds like a sound idea if you are looking for a certain type of person. But, be wary, catfishing can happen anywhere. The good part about LinkedIn is the sense of credibility when it comes to users.

"Dustin Kidd, a professor of sociology at Temple University who researches social media and pop culture, said that dating via LinkedIn belonged to a long tradition of "dating hacks" — using online tools designed for other purposes to snag a date." (Business Insider)

Any platform that has the DM (direct messaging) feature allows people to potentially seek out love. So, there's no clear line distinguishing any social media platform from dating to non-dating site...
