A German model shares her story of being mauled by a leopard...
Being a model requires you to be prepared for anything, especially when it comes to photoshoots. Besides the environmental challenges like weather and lighting, there is also those shoots that demand you to be fearless.
We honestly cannot imagine being in a cage with leopards, yes, those big cats that kill their food and are wild at heart. As much as we love travel and exploring the beauty of wildlife, being in a cage with them, uh, we don't think so.
A German model by the name of Jessica Leidolph visited the retirement home for show animals during a photoshoot. She was posing inside a cage that had leopards enclosed inside with her.
As much as the 16-year-old leopard, who goes by the name of Troja, bit Jessica's face repeatedly, she does not want him to be put down.
"Leidolph reportedly spent two weeks in a clinic after the attack and now has three metal plates on the right side of her face from the operation. Her eye is also swollen and her body is covered in wounds." (The U.S. Sun)
I can't put any weight on my left arm. The swollen half of my face feels like after a dental operation. I am plasticising with chopsticks so that I can eat properly again. When it happened, I thought: It's over now. I know I was very lucky that I am still alive at all. I don't want the animal to be killed, it just followed its instincts. It was unfortunate. I am glad there was no request to euthanise the animal.- Jessica Leidolph
Jessica is an avid animal activist and wanted to shed some light on wild animals.
"Jessica has been taking care of orphaned and sick animals for 16 years in her apartment in the town of Eisenberg, where she nurses swans, owls, fox cubs and hedgehogs. She then poses with the animals and uses the money she earns from the calendars she makes to help find them a proper home." (The U.S. Sun)
Jessica recently posted to her Instagram account, sharing that she returned to the retirement home for show animals, where the incident took place. The reason for her return was part of her therapy.
She is such a brave person for firstly understanding that it was the leopard following its instincts and also for making an effort to go back to the place of her attack. We could all learn from her story...
