Saudi Arabia's plans for a futuristic vertical city, The Line...
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Talk about living in the future...
We know the Middle East to be a place that harnesses the mystical nature of royalty and Arabian nights...
However, the progression over the past few years has been remarkable and really caters to the image of the future.
The most recent walk into the land of the future is the unveiling of the design concept for The Line.
"A futuristic city and one of three regions within Neom, a yet-to-be-built $500-billion megacity first announced by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2017.
"This revolutionary city is set to home to 9-million residents, will be 170km long, there will be no cars but rather high-speed transportation that will allow occupants to travel to the end within - minutes.
"There will be no cars, no emissions, no roads, and this promised city “will run on 100% renewable energy and 95% of land will be preserved for nature." (MSN)
Over and above that, people's health and well-being is said to be prioritised over infrastructure and transportation. Which is what all people from all parts of the world want to hear from their government...
With all that has been unveiled and promised, it really does sound like the perfect city. A place that caters for every need, taking both people and the environment as well as technology into account.
But we would be remiss if we did not mention that the project has come with some conspiracy. Many have questioned the uprooting of locals who live in the area where The Line is to be constructed.
As well as the violent and less than desirable alleged nature of how those who are speaking up have been handled.

Nevertheless, if this project is successfully built it will certainly place Saudi Arabia as a leader into the future.
