OPINION: Should she attend a wedding if she's sick (COVID-19 negative)?

What would you do?
COVID-19 has done many things to us as a society. But one thing for sure is that it has abnormalised having the common flu and being in public.
So, of course, we can understand why everyone jumps at every sneeze or cough that they hear. However, there is a certain form of etiquette that we have all learnt from, and we hope that sticks post pandemic.
Some of the things that have stuck with us according to priority:
- Always, always practice good hygiene. It was really surprising to learn that many people don't have a wash your hands routine. And when we speak about washing your hands, we are referring to washing your hands with soap and water. Rinsing is not the same.
- Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. Now, again, this should be common sense for everyone. But sadly it isn't and it took a whole pandemic to teach us this.
On that note, a woman was honest and open about her situation and asked for some advice from the Reddit audience. Check out what she asked them below...

Many people came to the post to share their thoughts. Most of them advising her to not go. It would be irresponsible to go knowing you have the flu, which is still quite contagious.
We agree with the majority, it is both cruel and unforgiving to go somewhere knowing you have a contagious illness. It's understandable that she doesn't want to cause the couple more costs by not attending, but the best thing to do would be to let them know as soon as possible.
Perhaps they could make alternate arrangements? Also, we need to move away from feeling bad about those things that are out of our control...
