Man jailed for stealing 7,000 hams worth over R81-million!
Updated | By East Coast Radio
We cannot even fathom how he managed to transport the stolen goods...
We have heard of a great deal of employees who have tried to outwit their employers and commit fraud.
But this was by far one of the most bizarre stories we have ever heard...
Of course, we understand that on a day-to-day basis many people steal from the hand that feeds them.
To what extent though? We've heard of thefts on chicken farms, cable theft, and even pick-pockets who steal at retail stores...
But ham, that's a stretch...
Perhaps it is stretch for us, but to the people in the market of selling ham, it is a prized possession and in high demand.
A man has been found guilty and jailed for stealing 7,000 hams from his employers in Spain.
According to The Guardian, "He reportedly sold them on and used messenger service to deliver them to customers." (Business Insider)
It shows how amateurish we are because we kept wondering how he must've stolen that many in one instance without being noticed.
But it seems that he was in fact stealing them over a period of time, that stretched the course of six years.
The ham was no ordinary kind either, it is considered an expensive ham, named jamón de jabugo, which can retail for more than R8,300.

That's one expensive piece of meat...
In a previous interview done by an Insider reporter, with a chef at a restaurant in Los Angeles, it was revealed that the pigs were fed a special diet.
And therefore the ham was more flavourful...
We will leave it there, the man and his wife were ordered to pay back his employer the sum of R8.6-million for the theft.
