Man breaks the world record for the fastest time drinking Capri Sun
Updated | By El Broide
Oh, the things lockdown will have us do…
Declan Evans is a twenty-year-old man from Leicester who made history recently by breaking the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to drink a Capri Sun – downing one in 16.65 seconds.
The youngster admits that while bored during lockdown, he wanted to do something productive like breaking a world record – so he started looking through thousands of Guinness World Records that had been set a benchmark, but not yet attempted.
One challenge that caught his eye was to down a Capri Sun, which was around 18 seconds. Thinking he could do better, Declan started trying to break the record while abiding by the rules set out by the organisation.

Then, on 27 August last year, he officially set the record with his time of 16.65.
Declan submitted his attempt and admits that he had two wait around three months to get a response from team at Guinness World Records.
"It is a stupid record to hold, but that is the fun of the Guinness World Records,” the forensic science student at De Montfort University in Leicester told The Lincolnite. "I think it will definitely get beaten. I wouldn't say it was that fast. It is a silly record anyone can try, but I am proud to have it and it is still a world record. Once I achieved it, it was quite rewarding and I want to try more records in the future."

Now that Declan has broken his first world record, he admits he will attempt to try and break more in the months and years to come. He says that once coronavirus restrictions are lifted, he wants to try to get the quickest times to run a mile carrying someone on a stretcher, and also to swim the River Humber. He also has his eye on breaking some sort of gaming record.
