Chinese live streamer makes millions using unconventional sales tactic
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Who would've thunk that this would work?
We always said that things that used to be cool or acceptable would make their debut again.
That's the cycle of life, right?
Well, it seems a sales tactic that was deemed unconventional has now made a comeback after a Chinese live streamer used it and made millions in just one week.
The Chinese live streamer uses "live commerce” or “livestreaming e-commerce” to sell merchandise online. This "real-time online selling phenomenon" became popular in China during the pandemic. (CNBC)
The tactic she used garnered her attention online and earned her a total of $18.7-million (R340-million) in a week.
All she did was promote products for three seconds each. Her approach made us think of an auction and was quite intriguing, we guess that had a lot to do with the short timespan to view each item.
In essence, if you are a shopper who takes time to think about your purchase, then this sort of shopping is not for you.
Her minimalist and "rapid-fire technique sets her apart in the live-streaming realm, leading to a surge in sales. The success hints at a shift in consumer behavior towards concise, dynamic engagement with online sales, challenging traditional approaches and highlighting the evolving nature of commerce in the digital age."
