LISTEN: Kyle 'KD' Desai from Lotus Park is repping his city of Durban
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Kyle Desai, an up-and-coming Durbanite musician, is turning heads with his single, 'Durban'...
Kyle Desai, aka 'KD', is a 23-year-old musician, performer, producer, and family guy from Lotus Park, Isipingo. His debut single, 'Durban', has been played on East Coast Radio on the Gordan Graham Play Local Show on Sunday evenings and we are definitely feeling the vibe with this song.
KD has always been passionate about music. He comes from a home that stems from a musical background, with his mother and grandmother being very music centric. He caught up with us and answered some questions about himself and his new song.
When we asked him about the below video that he performed with his two brothers, he shared a personal story with us about losing his cousin, Justin Pillay. The cover of 'See You Again' by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth was performed by KD and his brothers, Keenan and Cyrus.
We are familiar with the song being a soundtrack from 'The Fast and The Furious' franchise, when Paul Walker passed away it was a time that many resonated with this song. So too did KD and his brothers. They performed this song in honour of their cousin who passed away.

So my cousin passed away tragically in a bike accident, he was on his way to Cornubia get some groceries and unfortunately lost control of his bike... The guys that you see in this video are my brothers we just did this cover in memory of him and to honor his legacy.- Kyle Desai aka KD
Kyle and his brother Keenan worked as a duo for many years before KD decided to take a new turn with his music. They were called K Squared and have created many musical works of art together, some of their work can be seen on their YouTube channel. The brothers don't just share their musical sides, they have some funny videos here that share their comedic sides.
When we asked him about what happened with K Squared, he said that it's been put on hold for now.
Nothing at all.. My brother was in matric last year so I put that on hold and decided to take on a new project.. I'm actually really grateful of how things are turning out and how much love and hype I'm getting from this single.- Kyle Desai (KD)
He went on to say that he is grateful for all that he is getting to work on currently. We asked him if the way forward for KD was as a rapper, producer, or musician, and he followed up with the below...
Definitely!!! I just want to make music that inspires, encourages and shakes the music industry!! Coz for me a song must send out a message, a meaning.. I don't want to be just another artist.. I really am hoping to make a difference, given the opportunity ❤️- Kyle Desai (KD)
