Italian town offering people R540k to move in
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Sound like something you are willing to do? There's just one small catch...

For some, this might sound like a dream come true. To be able to go live abroad in a small town in Italy that hosts beautiful sea views and stone-cobbled streets.
It has all the makings of a great romance movie.
As many towns in Italy try to "compensate for the worrisome trend of consistent population decline, towns and villages around Italy are offering alternatives to attract new residents." (Forbes)
The most recent comes from the town of Calabria, southern Italy.
"Sometimes referred to as the 'toe' of the Italian 'boot', Calabria is a peninsula of irregular shape, jutting out in a northeast-southwest direction from the main body of Italy and separating the Tyrrhenian and Ionian seas." (Britannica)
The municipality is offering to pay $30,000 (R547,000) to those willing to relocate there.

"The offer comes with certain conditions, including moving within 90 days and either starting a business that benefits the local economy or filling job openings in the area." (Instagram)
Over and above that, you have to be under 40 years of age. It certainly sounds like an inviting offer for those who want to live out their dream of life in paradise.
But be informed that the job openings are in hospitality and the $30,000 can be received in one lump sum or in monthly instalments.
Check out this reel that we found online showing snippets of the town of Calabria, Italy.
It certainly screams dream town, courtesy of Instagram.
