Is sharing a toothbrush something you can get down with? A dentist reveals some insight into this topic...
There are many weird things that we have heard about in our time, one of the most contentious of them has to be the sharing of a toothbrush between partners and sometimes even friends.
Whether or not that is your thing, just a full disclaimer that we are not judging you! Sometimes it just takes a slip of the tongue or the gum to get people's undies in a knot and we are in no position to get all "Judgey Macpherson" on you.
We remember using our fingers as kids when we forgot our toothbrushes for an overnight stay, but things have evolved since then, many people now keep spare toothbrushes in case of emergencies.
If you think that sharing a toothbrush is somehow romantic, we are not so sure about that one, considering that toothbrushes are riddled with food particles that are naked to the human eye. These particles encourage bacteria to form and this can be harmful to your dental health.
According to a dentistry website, you can use your toothbrush once or twice a day (recommended brushing is two times a day). If more than one person is using the same toothbrush, then the bristles break down faster and therefore this can cause problems in the mouth.
The damaged bristles can scratch at your gums and promote receding gums that actually shift away from your teeth reports Healthfully.
