Nothando Nyathi, a mother who was working as a domestic worker, wanted to surprise her son for his 4th birthday but couldn't afford a fancy character-designed cake...
We love those heartfelt stories that leave us feeling warm and fuzzy inside and this story definitely left us feeling just that - and very inspired. Someone once told us that if you are doing what you love then you will never work a day in your life. We love that and feel that it is so true...
When you love what you do then not only do you feel good but you share that feeling with everyone around you. So when we heard Nothando Nyathi's story, we just had to share it with you.
Maybe you are going through a tough time, or maybe you need some inspiration to follow your passion but you can't because you have responsibilities? Well, after hearing her story, you will get up and push yourself to follow your dream, too.
In May 2012, Nothando's son was celebrating his 4th birthday and she wanted to surprise him with a Spiderman cake that she saw on Facebook. When she reached out to the seller, she quickly found out that it was not affordable for her, and then the idea of starting her own business came to mind. This moment of inspiration was the start of what she can now proudly call her own business.
See some of her creations below; she is so talented and it's just amazing!
As you can see, Nothando didn't use the fact that she couldn't afford the cake as the be-all and end-all, she used it as a driving force and went ahead and started her journey to becoming the owner of Extraordinary Cakes by Noe.
She says that as a child her cousin and her would mould animals from mud and that has helped in her creating such wonderful designs with her cakes and cookies.
Baking makes me happy and I share in all the joys and celebrations in people’s lives… all the joys of being together in small groups to eat my delicious cakes.- Nothando Nyathi
We would like to wish her all the best with her business and we hope that she can achieve all that her heart desires because Noe, you are truly an inspiration to us and so many people.
