How high? Sky high! Cannabis used to construct buildings
A new industry for the green leaf, which is known for its multi-faceted benefits.
We've heard about the revolutionary methods of printing a home, using recyclable materials to construct a building, and now there is the use of cannabis in construction.
Called the beginning of a new industry, we hear about how one farmer used his cannabis plantation to construct a carbon-neutral home.
"Cannabis may be known best for its psychoactive purposes and medicinal properties, but it has found an unexpected place in the world of construction." (Instagram)
The truth behind its uses is astounding. And we love that when we push ourselves, we come up with the most amazing solutions to going green.
"When used in building, it takes the form of "hempcrete", a sturdy material made by mixing hemp hurd – the woody core of the plant – with a binder made from water and lime." (Instagram)
Hailed as a great solution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions over time, hempcrete can store heat and energy, which helps during the Winter months. And in Summer, the hempcrete is able to regulate temperatures and help keep the home cool.
