Have you ever received an invite that says you're not invited to the wedding?

Would you respond with a thank you note?
It's no news to us that many couples who have wanted to get married recently have had to push their plans or make amendments to their wedding arrangements due to the pandemic.
Which is all fine and well but this story got us thinking that in a way some couples preferred the restrictions, because it served as a way for them to have their dream weddings, something small and intimate.

A woman posted to a Facebook group sharing her dilemma when it came to her wedding guest list. She admitted that she was not close to some of her extended family members who lived inner state.
And she wanted to know from the group members what would be a nice way of telling people that they were not invited for the wedding...She did admit that she preferred a small and intimate wedding and that as much as she would love to invite everyone, she hardly spoke to these family members.
I would like a classy way to say – we didn't forget about you, we just can't invite you to the day.- The bride
We are certain that after posting it, she quickly realised that gaining sympathy from anyone on the group was not going to happen. Many people were shocked at what she was asking, and of course, it is quite a stretch when it comes to soothing a non-guest at your wedding.
We have noticed that it can be a touchy, or should we say sensitive topic, not receiving an invitation. Perhaps it's got more to do with the fact that you end up feeling rejected or left out than forgotten.
In saying that, imagine receiving an invitation or a note, saying we're sorry to inform you that we will not be able to invite you for our special day...Yeah, that's a no-no.
