Getting paid to visit the pub? Oh yeah!

A local council in the UK has released an interesting job ad for a lover of pubs and history. We approve!
The Lincolnshire County Local Council is searching for a 'Heritage Project Officer', aka a pub lover, to research and record the architecture and social history of pubs that run across a 50-mile stretch of the Lincolnshire coast.
The applicant should be educated at a degree level in archeology or building conservation and, well, if pubs are your thing, then all the better.
The salary being offered is £28,672 and the advert goes on to say: "A good working knowledge of the region's heritage, and of the architectural and social history of pubs is desirable. As is a good understanding of the social and economic role of public houses in rural and urban communities today, and the current challenges they face."
As much as the headline of being a pub lover sounds great, so does the fact of preservation and enhancement of local history. The job role is part of a project called 'Inns on the Edge' (a pilot project).
The role is needed so that historic records are updated and awareness is raised with regards to the closures of pubs due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the recovery of the hospitality sector.
We are sure that many pub owners in South Africa can relate to the above, as everyone took a knock in some way or the other.
We hope that with job roles such as these there can be some love spread for the history of old buildings and preservation thereof.
