Future Ford cars will repossess themselves if you miss a payment?!
Updated | By East Coast Radio
What in the world?
The future of everything can be bizarre to us at times, but it certainly has kept us on our toes.
One of those instances came to light when we heard that famous car brand, Ford, will introduce a patent that involves repossession of future Ford vehicles.
"Ford applied for a patent to make the repossession process go smoother. It describes several ways to make the life of somebody who has missed several car payments harder." (MSN)
The patent, which was submitted to the United States Patent Office in 2021, was recently approved.
"It explicitly says the system, which could be installed on any future vehicle in the automaker's lineup with a data connection would be capable of "[disabling] a functionality of one or more components of the vehicle." Everything from the engine to the air conditioning." (MSN)
Talk about taking things next level!
This is certainly a step ahead when it comes to dealerships and banks taking control over missed payments.

For vehicles that have autonomous or semi-autonomous driving capability, the vehicle could move itself from one spot to another.
So, for instance, the vehicle could drive itself to a spot that is more convenient for towing, or even drive itself to the closest repossession agency.
According to Autos, the patent doesn't necessarily mean that the automaker is going to introduce the described feature. It could be that Ford is trying to protect the idea for future use.
