Five basic things every adult should know but usually doesn't
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Don't feel bad if you don't know them either... every day is a learning experience.
There are several things in this world that make us question why some people don't know basic things.
But this Reddit post has helped us understand why many people don't know. It's because not everyone has been equipped with the knowledge they need to live as a full-grown adult in this world.
And we cannot blame them entirely, some people are prepared as youngsters, others skipped the chapter.

To help those that do not know, we narrowed down five basic things that every adult should know, but maybe doesn't.
1. Water and grease/oil don't mix
If the grease catches alight, then you may be inclined to use water to put the fire out. But, actually, you should rather use a lid to stop the fire, or flour, salt or a fire extinguisher.
2. Female anatomy
Sadly, many people including females don't know that you actually don't urinate from your vagina. In case you are one of these people, here's the truth.
"There's a small hole above the vagina called a urethra. That's where pee comes from." (Upworthy)
3. How to spot an obvious scam
This is a tricky one, because if you don't know then it's difficult to teach. But here's the value.
If someone calls you and asks you for private information, or you receive a message saying you have unclaimed winnings (yet you have not played any lottery or entered any competitions), do not respond!
Simple as that, follow your gut instinct, and rather cut the call and say you will get back to them.
4. How to tell if your food has gone bad
This sounds like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised. If it's past the use by date, then it's usually off. Smell the food, that's a good indicator. If it still smells fresh, then warm it up and you will know then.
If that isn't enough, check for mold, discolouration, and stickiness.

5. Not all news online is real
Shocker! Yes, the internet can be used as a source of information, but it doesn't mean that all the information on the net is legitimate.
Sadly, with the ease of access, there are many fraudulent and fake uploads of news and information. The key is to look for multiple sources of information, and look for reputable news sources. Brands that have gained authority.
