Fiancé returns his bride-to-be's wedding dress and replaces with his mom's choice

We knew that monster-in-law was based on a real story!
We've heard about our fair share of mothers-in-law and their somewhat 'sensitive' relationships with their future daughters-in-law.
And there have been many, many real-life monster-in-law scenarios. But somehow when we hear a new story, it always surprises us as to how some mothers have unnatural relationships with their sons.
In all honesty, we can understand the bond between mother and son, all to well. Considering Vic Naidoo and his mom have such a close bond.
But why do some mothers not know when and where to draw the line?
This was certainly the case with this mother of the groom, who shamelessly invited herself to her future daughter-in-law's wedding dress shopping.
Feeling bad about leaving her out, the bride confessed that she allowed her to come with. She was so lucky to have found what she wanted, but then the drama and guilt-tripping started.
The bride shared the below to Reddit saying:
"I was so lucky to have found what I was looking for but she (future mother-in-law) picked a dress that she liked so much and said that "she always pictured her son's bride in it". (MSN)
We have to agree with her that that did sound a bit creepy. It sounded a bit calculated too.
But what was worse was when the bride shared that she kindly rejected her mother-in-law's choice and went ahead with her chosen dress. It turned ugly when her fiancé came home and took off her with her for excluding his mother and making her upset over the dress choice.
He went as far as taking her chosen wedding dress to the store and exchanging it for the dress his mother chose!
Now that's just wrong on so many levels.

Here's the bride's dilemma, her mother is completely irate about the situation and wants to talk to both the groom and his mother.
But the father of the bride has expressed that she should just let it go because it is not worth losing a good relationship with her in-laws.
What do you think?
