The common saying would have you believe that it's okay to be a little bit uncomfortable but Vic Naidoo would beg to differ.
For generations, people have tried to convince others that being in an awkward, distressing, or harsh situation or environment can help you grow and achieve things you never would have if you just remained complacent and comfortable.

Using this phrase, which could be the sister to 'a change is as good as a holiday', to create the illusion that being uncomfortable can be a very good thing.
They might not be completely wrong.

You might be a little bit uneasy when you enter a new relationship and don't know the person that well yet.
Or you might still feel out of your element when you start a new job because you're still getting the lay of the land and figuring out how everything works.

And that's completely fine.
Sometimes being uncomfortable is exactly what you need.
Meeting someone new and getting that feeling in your gut that they might not be someone you'll get along with? You might have just avoided a serial killer.

Have you ever been third-wheeling with a couple when all of a sudden they burst into a heated argument and you have to awkwardly try and make yourself as invincible as possible? Yeah, that's uncomfortable.
Some things others might do or say, or we might even do or say, can almost instantly start up those troublesome and undesired feelings that you don't want sticking around for too long.
