Dad makes son a birthday cake out of meat and mash

Apparently, not all kids want chocolate or vanilla sponge cake for their birthdays.
Most kids would like a sweet treat on their birthday, or on any day for that matter.

But tastes and people differ, so to each their own.
One single dad, Jeff Janes, decided to take his birthday boy's cake to a whole new level by creating a meat cake.

The restaurant manager took inspiration from his friend, who made a meatloaf cake.
The cake was built out of three different cuts of steak; ribeye, prime rib as a base, and a thick piece of fillet mignon, and was covered in a mashed potato "icing".
The creation took three hours to complete and the finishing touches included beautiful bacon roses.

But did it taste as good as it looked, and, most importantly, was the birthday boy happy with his meat cake?
The answer was a resounding "yes"!

The guests and his son were thrilled with the cake, so he plans on making it every year and is considering some more expensive meats.
We're not ready for this kind of effort so we'll stick to something plain and simple for now.
