Cuddling can help reduce stress and boost your immunity

It is said to work if you cuddle with someone you love or care about...

We have heard of the benefits of touch. It can mean so much when you feel love through touch.

Just something as simple as a hug or holding hands can be such a booster for your mental state of mind. We can imagine what this might do for our physical health, too.

Well, according to WebMD, "When you cuddle with someone you care about, your body releases a hormone called oxytocin that calms you and makes you more likely to deal better with stress."

We know that there were benefits but this is just such a great reminder.

Especially because now, more than ever, people are struggling to manage their stress and anxiety. Although it has been something of an ongoing problem, it feels like as a community mental and physical health has always been an afterthought.

Just a simple cuddle can help with lowering your blood pressure and lowering cortisol, which is the “stress hormone”, and this can help tremendously with your heart health.

"A good cuddle may give you more than just moral support after an injury. The oxytocin it releases can help block pain signals. It works so well that doctors are trying to figure out how to treat people with a lab-made form of it." (WebMD)

We can understand why doctors would want to try and replicate this into something that is easily accessible, but time and time again we have learnt that nothing beats human touch and care.

Perhaps that is something that should be considered, a person who cuddles with you as a means of helping you heal?

Does it sound weird? Yes. But maybe that is exactly what people who are ill need more of? A little bit of love and care goes a long way...

In our opinion, it's like our bodies know that we need this because if you think about a time when you are not feeling well or under a lot of pressure, a hug always helps make you feel better.

Well, that and some supportive, kind words of encouragement.
